OAA's GST Status

As a non-profit organisation with annual turnover significantly below the $150,000 registration threshold, OAA is not required to register to collect GST and has chosen not to register voluntarily. While this means that OAA will not be able to claim Input Tax Credits to offset any GST paid on goods and services used in our enterprise, advice given is that such benefits would be outweighed by the very onerous record keeping requirements in accounting for the GST – which represent a substantial burden for small organisations such as OAA. Therefore, OAA will not be charging GST on goods and services or issue Tax Invoices.Even though registrants or institutions may ask for Tax Invoices, OAA does not have to issue Tax Invoices to show the GST component of goods and services. OAA is not registered for GST so there is zero GST.

In the event of industrial disruptions or natural disasters, The Ocularists Association of Australia (OAA) and the Organising Committee, cannot accept responsibility for any financial or other losses incurred by the delegates. The OAA and the Organising Committee take no responsibility for injury or damage to persons or property occurring during the Conference. All insurance, including medical cover, or expenses incurred in the event of the cancellation of the conference is the individual delegate’s responsibility. Attendees are encouraged to choose a travel insurance policy that includes loss of fees/deposits through cancellation of your participation in the Conference, or through the cancellation of the Conference itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. The OAA and the Organising Committee, will take no responsibility for any participant failing to insure.

For promotional purposes, there may be a professional photographer and video production taking place during the conference. Delegates who do not wish to be filmed or recorded should advise the organisers by email to prior to the event.
